I took a Monday off work in advance when I knew the sun was going to be shining in order to check out the North Shore Leisure Club for some disc golf. With a tee time reservation for 11:30am, I set off through the mountains and found myself not far from Linville Caverns onto an old golf resort that has been turned into a disc golfing paradise. From the looks of it, there was a PDGA tournament the weekend prior, so there was a little disarray from signage on one of the 3 courses from what I could tell, but at least there were plenty of port-a-potties.
I started on River Run and had a blast playing all 18 holes. The course meandered through the woods, by creeks, and in all sorts of places you normally wouldn't walk through on a golf course. That's what makes disc golf so fun!
After completing a proper round, I walked through the mini disc golf area back to my car and re-hydrated. From there, I walked down to the "Gorge" disc golf course. It was hot with little tree cover, but with a nice creek flowing through. I putzed around for a bit on this course because it was way too long and difficult.
Overall, I would come back here. It took about 2 hours playing River Run by myself, so I probably wouldn't buy the day pass again and just pay for a single round. There is one other course I didn't get to (right next to River Run) so that will have to be for next time.
